McCord Museum: Grace Kelly

From Philadelphia to Monaco: Grace Kelly - Beyond the Icon

June 6 - October 6, 2013

This exhibition is about a cinema legend who often played roles of high society women and even a role of a screen princes. And then she went and surprise everybody by becoming the real time princess, the Princess of Monaco. Even Alfred Hitchcock, with whom Grace Kelly had a prolific work relationship, had to admit that he was "very happy that Grace has found herself such a good part."

Besides her subsequent life as the Monaco royalty, the exhibition devotes a large section to her career as a film star. There are many excellent film posters, as seen in the images below. Also presented are several film clips.

In addition, there are many costumes designed specifically for her that she wore in her films, those given to Kelly by MGM Studios as a wedding gift when she got married. This was a very unusual gesture, indicating how much Grace Kelly was loved. As a rule, the costumes used in films are always catalogued and kept by the production companies for future purposes.
